Interview with amazing author Robin Stevens

Robin Stevens is my favourite author.  Her first 2 books ‘Murder Most Unladylike’ and ‘Arsenic for Tea’ were the best books I have ever read.  Robin is very talented and she absorbs you into her writing but it’s not too complicated.

Since reading Robin’s books I have loved reading mystery and crime books.

Robin has inspired me to read different books and also to keep on writing my own stories.

For months I have been awaiting the arrival of Robin’s latest book which comes out this week!! It is called First Class Murder. I can’t wait to read it and I’ll write a review soon.  It’s sure to be AMAZING!

Here is my very own interview with ROBIN STEVENS!!!!

Sophie: What’s your favourite colour?

Robin: Blue!

(Sophie: Blue is also my favourite colour!)

Sophie: Who’s your favourite author?

Robin: Diana Wynne Jones

Sophie: Who’s your favourite book character of all time?

Robin: Ooh, good question. I love Jane Eyre, and a character called Claidi from a series of books by Tanith Lee.  And Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle.

 

Sophie: If you could meet any author (dead or alive) who would it be?

Robin: I’d love to hang out with Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie in their Detection Club in the 1930s!

 

Sophie: Why do your books have a different name and cover in America?

Robin: Books are always given different covers when they sell in different countries, because different cultures like different things (the way that most British people love tea, while most Americans don’t drink it al all!)  The name change is similar – my American publisher felt that a different title would work better with American readers, and I was happy to go along with it.

 

Sophie: Do you think there will be a Wells & Wong movie or TV series?

Robin: I hope there will!  It’s sadly not up to me at all, so I’m waiting and crossing my fingers as much as anyone else!

 

Sophie: What age did you know you wanted to be an author?

Robin: I’ve always known, I think.  My father was a writer, and so was my grandfather, so it seemed very normal and achievable to me.  I’ve been writing stories since I was tiny, though I didn’t finish a book until I was about 16.

Sophie: Who (except the publisher) reads your books first?

Robin: My agent reads the first draft, and so does my mother and my crit partner. They all give me feedback on what worked for them and what didn’t, and I use that to make my second draft a lot better.  It’s incredibly useful.

Sophie: What hobbies do you have apart from writing?

Robin: I love to bake and cook.  I also love to read, and travel and see my friends – luckily, I like being busy!

Sophie: How did it feel to see your first book published?

Robin: It was incredible.  It was something I’d wanted to do all my life, but never thought it would happen to me so young.  In a way, I think I’m still not sure it’s all real.  It feels like a very good dream!
